One of the best golfing experience you can have within 25-30 minutes from centre of Kuala Lumpur, & 20 minutes from Mont Kiara, Damansara area.
Set amidst the evergreen Templer Park Forest Reserve and under the backdrop of the majestic Bukit Takun limestone hill, Templer Park Country Club ranks as one of the most scenic and challenging golf experiences in Malaysia.
Crafted by acclaimed golf course architect Kentaro Sato with inputs from veteran Japanese professional and World Golf Hall of Famer Masashi “Jumbo” Ozaki, the club was officially opened on 27th April 1991 – enchanting locals and expatriates alike with its tranquil natural setting and championship quality golf layout.
The club’s due recognition came when it received the nod to host the prestigious Malaysian Open not once – but three times in 1995, 1996 and 2000 – the latter when the Open was jointly sanctioned by the European and Asian PGA Tours.
Recognising the need to stay ahead of its competitors, the club underwent a massive upgrading exercise in 2008 – with significant improvements being made to the fairways and bunkers as well as the introduction of new Satiri greens on all 18 holes.
The distinctly Japanese-styled clubhouse itself received a make-over in 2013 with new contemporary changing rooms as well as the addition of meeting and seminar rooms to its existing list of well-maintained facilities.
This dedication to improvement was recently recognized when Templer Park Country Club was picked the “Best Improved Golf Course for 2013” by the readers of ParGolf – one of Malaysia’s leading golf magazines.
More recently, the club was voted as among the top three clubs in Malaysia by Golf Magazine Malaysia in their annual 2016 Top Ten Golf Poll.
One of Templer Park Country Club’s best kept-secret is its Onsen facility located within the locker rooms.
Utilising filtered natural water flowing from the limestone hills of the surrounding Templer Park Forest Reserve, the Onsen is a welcome respite after a demanding round of golf.
The healing properties of the mineral substances in the water not only help alleviate muscle pain and relieve fatigue but also leave a relaxing effect on your body and mind.
The Onsen experience is a must try at Templer Park Country Club.
It’s easy to be mesmerised by the might Bukit Takun limestone hills that towers over Templer Park Country Club as it takes on different moods depending on the weather.
Early starters will be welcomed by hills shrouded by thin veils of mist while on a good clear day, especially towards sunset, the “living” monument shimmers in its own special glow.
Built on a former mining wasteland, the course features a combination of flat and undulating terrain, measuring 6,725 yards from the blue markers with the ability to stretch to a stern 7,143 yards from the championship tees.
The first 14 holes are situated to the left of the clubhouse while the remaining four holes cut through a slightly elevated jungle area to the right.
Narrow tree-lined fairways with strategically placed sand traps meander around distinctive giant lakes, demand accuracy from tee-to-green with a fair risk-return tradeoff.
The lush fairways offers perfect lies while the fairly new Satiti greens -installed in 2009 – tease your putting abilities with their subtle breaks and true roll, with a daily average speed of 10.5 of the Stimpmeter.
With a strong maintenance culture, Templer Park Country Club continues to stand the test of time, providing golfers of all skills set a rejuvenating golfing challenge.
