We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join our team, specializing in construction and supply chain management projects in Malaysia. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in accurately estimating costs, managing budgets, and optimizing procurement processes to ensure the successful completion of construction projects while maximizing supply chain efficiency. This position requires a deep understanding of construction practices, supply chain management principles, and local regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of project specifications, drawings, and contractual documents to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders including architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to develop detailed cost estimates and project budgets.
- Utilize advanced estimating techniques and software tools to prepare accurate cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and other project expenses.
- Implement value engineering principles to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards and project specifications.
- Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and procurement options to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Manage the tendering process, including issuing requests for proposals (RFPs), evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, and awarding work to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor project expenses and cash flow projections throughout the project lifecycle, identifying potential cost overruns and implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Evaluate change orders and variations, assessing their impact on project costs and schedules, and ensuring proper documentation and approval procedures are followed.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess progress, quality, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs, contracts, and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Professional certifications such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or MCIPS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are highly desirable.
2. Proven experience as an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of supply chain management principles and practices.
3. Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., CostX, Candy, Planswift) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
