SATANG ISLAND + IRRAWADDY DOLPHIN WATCHING
This tour passes mangrove swamps and the picturesque Santubong fishing villages on the way to the South China Sea.
Enroute to the island, be on the look out for the shy Irrawaddy dolphins. The Irrawaddy or snubfin dolphin, inhabits the rivers, estuaries and shallow coastal areas. The Santubong area remains one of the best places in Sarawak to view this unusual looking marine mammal. When seen, they swim and dive around open waters less than 30 metres deep.
Visitors will need a keen eye to spot the dolphins and they are best seen when they frolic near local fishing boats that are hauling in the catch!
After a short cruise through the open sea, we arrive at Satang Island, one of the three islands set aside by the Sarawak government for turtle conservation. Visit the turtle conservation and hatchery. Enjoy the beautiful white sand beach and snorkel amongst the wide variety of soft corals and colorful marine life. A packed lunch included.
