ZWO CH4 Methane Band Pass Filter Is Dedicated For Planetary Imaging
CH4 (methan) filters are recommended for CCD or CMOS cameras that have good sensitivity in the IR part of the spectrum at around 890nm. Also, astro modified dSLR cameras where the IR-blocking filter has been removed would make great use of this filter when imaging Jupiter or Saturn, although for planetary imaging we prefer the above mentioned ZWO planetary imagers.
ONLY FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC USE! This filter is not suitable for visual observations as humans won't see anything in that part of the spectrum.
These are called CH4, because methane gas absorbs the light at that part of the spectrum.
Please note that large Newtonian telescopes will give the best results for two reasons: mirror telescopes won't absorb the IR part of the spectrum and due to the narrow transmission of the filter bigger telescopes will simply show more of the object or better to say that you might simply not get any results with a too small telescope. So the recommended min telescope size is 8".
This filter is a 1.25" ( 31.7mm ) filter and comes with an inner filter thread thus can be screwed together with other filters
Comes in a plastic filter case.
