This is the depiction of the gold rush in California back in the mid 19th century. Gold seekers travelled from far and wide to head to the bounty. Overland travel mode included the train which is at the top of the painting. In the rush to get to the original location of discovery, the prospectors missed out on other potential gold mines along the way.
