The 1947–1953 MG YA is a 4-door "1 1/4 Litre" saloon featuring a 1,250cc XPAG overhead-valve 4-cylinder engine with a single SU carburettor, producing 46 bhp at 4,800 rpm and roughly 58.5 lb-ft of torque.

It introduced independent front suspension to the MG marque, with a top speed of roughly 70 mph and 0-60 mph in 29.3 seconds.
