Standard Coupe (1990–1997): Retractable pop-up headlights, fixed hardtop roof, and available with manual or automatic gearboxes.

NSX-R / Type R (1992–1995, Japan-Only): A track-focused homologation special. Honda stripped roughly 120 kg by removing sound deadening, audio, air conditioning, and spare tires, while adding carbon-kevlar Recaro bucket seats, Enkei forged wheels, a balanced crankshaft, a 4.235 final drive, and stiffer suspension.

NSX-T (1995–1997): Removable targa top option that introduced structural reinforcements to the A-pillars and rocker panels, accompanied by a drive-by-wire throttle system.

In 1997, Honda introduced the NA2, updating the manual models to the 3.2L C32B V6 and a 6-speed manual transmission, while the NA1 chassis code remained in production exclusively for 4-speed automatic models.
