In 2006, Audi launched the R8 to rival Porsche’s 911. A mid-engine supercar with Lamborghini’s Gallardo chassis which was much loved by many car enthusiast. Back then, the V8 was somewhat underpowered and could not deliver the full potential the car was designed to be. Hence in 2009, the 525hp V10 version was introduced and became the flagship model, however despite is supercar pedigree performance, it was still somehow handicapped by its single-clutch automated manual option even though the clutch has been upgraded.

Fast forward in mid 2012, Audi introduced the new range-topping R8 with a minor facelift. It came with the iconic LED head and taillights, a new revised front and rear bumper, a badge that now has the ‘RS’ red, while some internal engine hardware improvement that has been revised around with a larger air intake manifold to further boost its performance. But the most significant feature was the inception of the first lightning-fast 7-Speed S-Tronic Dual Clutch transmission, providing superior quick gear shifts and seamless power delivery unlike before.
