Background Story;
JR Mountain Farm was founded by a father (Raju) and son (Joshua) venture. We have loved nature since childhood and the delicious fruits that they provide us with. However, we rarely have the pleasant experience of buying consistent or guaranteed satisfaction fruits, in particular Durians.
The idea came to start a farm while dad, Mr Raju Muniandy was working on his final pre-retirement project on waste management (utilization) when he was the senior chief public health inspector of Penang mainland’s local council (MPSP), Malaysia. He has presented papers on Waste Management in International Forums in Kathmandu, Nepal, Sardinia, Italy, Beijing, China, Fukuoka,Japan, Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia & attended JICA training on waste management in Japan. He was also Invited to lecture at Petronas University, Public Health Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia & while at MPSP won Malaysia National Innovation Award.
Using only organic matter and materials as such kitchen/garden/market waste, we believed they can be used to sustainably grow delicious fruits.
Naturally, we had to strategically allocate resources & locate the most suitable location for a premium fruit farm.
Finally, after 2 year plus of tireless searching for the perfect farm location, we found a pristine mountain top farm at 330m with hidden durian trees. It was an old rubber plantation that had its own spring water and an additional bigger stream flowing in the middle of our farm that separates our 2 hilltops.
Our farm is currently cared and nurtured using Nature’s principles and the science & study of organic farming for the past 4000 years.
