The 1978 CBX1000Z is considered the most prized and pure version among collectors, representing a pivotal moment in Japanese motorcycle history where engineering ambition aimed for maximum performance.
This bike is well serviced and maintained.
It will need looking after and is not for the faint hearted.
Introduced in 1978, the Honda CBX1000Z was a groundbreaking, flagship superbike designed to reassert Honda's engineering dominance, characterized by its stunning 1,047cc air-cooled DOHC inline-six engine.
Inspired by Honda's 1960s RC166 Grand Prix racer, the "Z" model was a high-performance machine featuring 24 valves and six 28mm Keihin carburetors, capable of producing 105 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and pushing the bike to over 130 mph, making it one of the fastest production motorcycles of its era.
555 lb (dry) weight and 35mm fork tubes, its silky-smooth power delivery, distinctive "jet airplane" exhaust note, and impressive six-into-two exhaust system solidified its status as an iconic, high-end "show" machine rather than a track racer.
