True Authentic Vintage (... because these were acquired near 50 years ago), "Made in Japan" nylon KOINOBORI - for the Japanese "Boys' Day Celebration" in May. ALL are NEW & NEVER BEEN USED.
This is a special type of Japanese kite in the form of the koinobori or carp kite. A carp is a fish, and the koinobori kite represents a colorful, ornamental freshwater carp called a koi. The flag is shaped like a fish with its open mouth attached to a pole and its tail fluttering free in the wind. The koi is revered in Japanese culture, where it's regarded as a symbol of strength, energy, and courage and you're likely to see them on display swimming in ponds in Japanese gardens.
You may wonder how a fish can represent courage. Well, koi are vigorous and powerful. They can swim upstream in rivers, which isn't easy to do because it requires the fish to have determination, perseverance and strength to fight the current.
This is a set of 3 pcs, 2 pcs are colorful Koi (1x 5m and the other 1x 4m) and the other is a 1x 5m "windsock" streamer.
Designed to easily catch the breeze, it is so lovely and mesmerising to watch the carps fluttering and swimming in the breeze. A most attractive and eye-catching decor for any event amd not just for the 'Boys Festival'.
