Description
A beautiful old brass Acuan Akok (Acuan Tembaga) traditionally used for making Akok, one of the well-known traditional kuih associated with Kelantan and the East Coast of Malaysia.
This is a particularly large and heavy example, weighing approximately 3.8kg, with 7 large oval moulds formed into the thick brass body. The substantial construction reflects the durability of traditional kitchenware made to withstand repeated heating and years of use.
The piece retains its aged surface, darkened areas, oxidation and cooking marks, giving it a strong original vintage character. The separate cover and large side handles add to its traditional appearance.
