WAXES AND SOLVENTS WITH ADDED LANOLIN TO LUBRICATE THE LEATHER’S SURFACE TO
PREVENT DRYING AND INCREASE WATER REPELLENCY. IT CONTAINS DYES AND WAS CREATED
SPECIFICALLY FOR RED WING’S BLACK CHERRY FEATHERSTONE SMOOTH-FINISHED
LEATHERS TO HIDE SURFACE SCUFFS AND SCRATCHES.

OIL-TANNED LEATHER
S.B. Foot Tanning Co. is best known for oil-tanned leather which is used to
build a variety of timeless Red Wing styles. This leather is water, stain and
perspiration resistant, and has a more natural look and feel because less
finishing materials have been applied, allowing its natural beauty to shine
through. Oil-tanned leather is exceptionally durable and has been used to
build countless work boots throughout Red Wing’s 110+ year history.
1. CLEAN
Light Cleaning
Use warm water and a soft bristle brush to remove stuck-on dirt. Then use a
clean, dry cloth to wipe away any remaining excess dirt.
Deep Cleaning
For heavily soiled areas, use a clean cloth or brush to apply Red Wing Shoes
Leather Cleaner. Wipe the cleaner away with a damp cloth and allow the leather
to dry.
2. Condition
Proper conditioning helps preserve the finish and life of your footwear. Use
Red Wing's All Natural Boot Oil, Mink Oil or All Natural Leather Conditioner.
You can apply these conditioners with your fingers, soft cloth or sponge.
Below, you will find the recommended conditioner to use with each of our Red
Wing leathers.
3. PROTECT
Add extra protection to preserve your footwear. Red Wing Leather Protector
provides an invisible shield from water, dirt, oil and mud.

ROUGHOUT AND NUBUCK LEATHER
Roughout leather is created using a reverse-suede technique unique to our
tannery where we simply highlight the inside of a full grain leather. Nubuck
leather is a full grain leather with a buffed top surface that creates a fine,
velvety nap. Both of these leathers are as strong and durable as our other
leathers.
1. CLEAN
Lightly rub the edge of the Suede Bar over the soiled area. For deep stains
and marks, apply more pressure. If the stain or dirt still remains, wet both
the Suede Bar and the stain with clean water and repeat rubbing action. Let
dry, then apply Suede Bar to remove water spots. Brush up nap with Suede
Brush.
2. Condition
For Muleskinner leather apply Mink Oil. All Nubuck, Abilene and Mohave
leathers require no conditioner.
3. Protect

Smooth-Finished Leather
Smooth-finished leathers have a polished surface that enhances the true beauty
and quality of the leather. Only the most premium, top-quality hides are used
to craft smooth-finished leathers. The result is a beautiful, classic-looking
leather used to build more elegant styles, such as the Red Wing Heritage
Beckman Collection. The polished look and feel of the smooth-finished leather
requires more specialized care and attention to keep it maintained.
