Framed image of Surau Batu Kg Gadong, Rembau

A 52 x 64 cm frame image of Surau Batu Kampung Gadong located in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.

The mosque was constructed around 1920 to 1921. It was built on the waqf land of Undang Haji Sulung, the 17th Undang Luak of Rembau.

It was built specifically for Tuan Haji Abbas, a former Rembau District Kadi, to teach Islamic theology to local villagers.

Locally known as Surau Batu, it earned its name because it was constructed using stone remnants. This distinguished it from the prevailing traditional wooden structures of that era.

The building was officially gazetted and restored by the National Museum Department (Jabatan Muzium Negara) to preserve its structural integrity.
