Limited Edition version jersey.

On we go with the jerseys at the Confederations
Cup and we stay in Group A and have a look at
Japan's away jersey. This one is probably one
of the more daring that Adidas has produced over
the past years although at a first look it is
almost boring.

This shirt is the traditional white Japan away
jersey. It features a round collar with this odd
stripe that we already saw on the AC Milan away
and Fenerbahce home jerseys. Not my favorite but
in this case, since the dark blue stripe only
applied over white it actually looks not that bad.
In addition we have dark blue shoulder stripes
which are ended by a thin sliver in similar
fashion to the 2012 Spain home jersey - it
actually looks reasonable here, but I am still not
a fan. The Adidas logo looks a bit high, but
remember that just below sits he number, so it is
reasonable. Similarly, the Japanese flag and the
JFA crest are quite well situated.

So far, so good - this could have been the Real
Madrid jersey for the past season (and actually
look better than the one they did use). So,
what's so special. On the left picture it is
barely visible, but darken the jersey and you will
see a pale-blue shape appear. Upon closer
inspection it is of course a crane, a bird closely
associated with Japan. However, in this case it
looks more like a fifth grader made some sketch.
To top it off, there is an inscription across the
belly: All support for Japan.

In principle, I like the idea of this shirt, but
the execution is a bit lacking. Also, add to it
the fact that the numbers and names are applied in
red which causes a lot of contrast to the overall
color scheme of the shirt. I wish the crane was a
bit more like on classic Japanese art, then this
would have been a fantastic shirt. Also, drop the
wordmark on the front. I am really back and forth
on this one: on one sde you barely see the crane
and you have a very nice jersey this way, but on
the other if the crane is considered it looks a
bit like a mess.
