In June 1946 His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej succeeded His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol to the Throne. Later in the year, the first issue of the 'Bangkok Post' - a modest four-page newspaper with a circulation of 500 copies was published.
From the day of his accession, His Majesty the King has come to be known as the hardest-working monarch in the modern world. His endless commitment to his people, especially the poor and the underprivileged, has earned him deep love and respect from all Thais.
Over the past half-century under His Majesty's Reign, the Bangkok Post has become the largest circulating English-language daily in Thailand and one of the most reputable newspapers in Asia. The company has meanwhile extended its product line to include magazines, books and comics.
