1996-1997 Metal - Precious Metal Parallel Set
Randomly inserted into hobby packs at a rate of one in 36, this 98-card set is a parallel of the Series two set only (minus the checklists). These cards differ from the basic set with the background of the card being completely silver.

1996-1997 Metal Set
Produced by Fleer/SkyBox, the 1996 Metal set is comprised of 250 cards with eight-card packs carrying a suggested retail price of $2.49. Borderless fronts feature the player in a full-colour action cutout against an etched colour and silver foil background. The player's name is printed in silver foil and embossed along the right side of the card. Backs picture the player in a full-colour action shot with his team's logo printed at the bottom against a "steel" background. The player's name and statistics run vertically along the right side of the card. The cards are grouped alphabetically within teams and checklisted below alphabetically according to team. The Series one Fresh Foundation subset contains the Rookie Cards of Stephon Marbury, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.
