WAT Mai HONG
It is a powerful traditional Northern Thai (Lanna) charm, often featuring a concentrated mixture of mystical oils, herbs, or beeswax (Siperng) pressed or cast into a small sphere.
.🙏😏👍
The most famous story behind Pha Yok Kam (or Phayong Kam) is the legend of its terrifying and complex creation ritual, known as the "Three Worlds" ceremony.
According to Northern Thai (Lanna) lore, Kruba Vichaiya did not just create this substance in a temple; he had to consecrate the wax in three specific locations to capture the energies of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity.
The Legend of the "Three Places"
To make the Pha Yok Kam truly powerful, it is said Kruba Vichaiya had to "cook" or empower the wax in three distinct stages, each harder than the last:
1. The Temple (Heaven Energy):
First, he boiled the wax in front of the main Buddha statue in the temple (Ubosot). This infused the charm with the power of purity, holiness, and the blessings of the "Heaven" realm.
2. The Crossroads (Earth Energy):
Next, he took the pot to a busy three-way intersection (a spiritual gateway in Thai belief). He had to sit there stirring and chanting until villagers stopped to ask him, "What are you doing?" This interaction was the key-it captured the energy of "Earth" and human connection/negotiation.
3. The Cemetery (Human/Spirit Energy):🙏🙏👍
This is the most famous and spooky part of the legend. For the final stage, he had to take the wax to a cemetery in the dead of night. The lore states he had to find the body of a woman who died while pregnant (a spirit known as Tai Tang Klom, considered extremely powerful).
1. He supposedly had a young, handsome novice monk sit behind the corpse.
2. The novice would hold the corpse's hands and use her hands to stir the boiling wax.
3. The ritual was only complete when the corpse's hands began to stir the wax on their own, without the novice's help. This signified that the spirit had accepted the merit and infused the wax with the ultimate power of Maha Saneh (attraction).
This legend is why the Pha Yok Kam is considered the "King of Lanna Waxes." Collectors believe that because it bridges the three worlds (Buddha, People, and Spirits), it grants wishes in all areas:
Temple power brings protection.
Crossroad power brings business success and negotiation skills.
Spirit power brings intense attraction and "Maha Saneh" (making people fall in love or favor you).
