Description
A pair of vintage cast iron cobbler’s shoe lasts, traditional tools once commonly used by shoemakers and shoe repairers for repairing, shaping and working on footwear.
Made from heavy solid cast iron, these pieces provided a firm working surface while craftsmen repaired soles, heels and other parts of a shoe. Their simple and extremely durable construction reflects an era when everyday belongings were repaired and maintained rather than quickly replaced.
One piece carries a visible No. 2 marking. Both pieces show different degrees of natural ageing, including surface oxidation, rust, scratches, old finish and general wear. These characteristics have been retained and give the tools their genuine old-workshop appearance.
Today, besides being collectible shoemaking tools, they make interesting decorative objects for an antique collection, vintage workshop display, shoe shop, café, studio, industrial décor or heritage display.
Condition: Vintage used condition with considerable age-related wear, oxidation and rust as shown in the photographs. Sold in existing condition.
