The Football Factory is a 2004 British crime drama directed by Nick Love and based on the novel of the same name by John King. The film follows Tommy Johnson, a disillusioned twenty something Chelsea supporter deeply embedded in the violent subculture of football hooliganism in London. Set against the backdrop of English Premier League rivalries, particularly involving supporters of Chelsea F.C. and Millwall F.C., the story explores themes of masculinity, loyalty, aggression, and identity within working class youth culture. Through gritty realism and fast paced storytelling, the film portrays the adrenaline fueled lifestyle of organised football firms, while also exposing the emptiness, social frustration, and cyclical violence underlying the culture.
