This classic manhua, titled 《神勇萬能俠 太空戰爭》 (The Brave Almighty Man: Space War), was written and illustrated by the renowned old-school artist Dongfang Yong (東方庸) and released by the historic Fei Lun Publishing House (飛輪出版社).
Dating back to around the late 1960s to early 1970s-as indicated by its nostalgic 60-cent (六毫) cover price this comic captures a fascinating era of pop culture history. It features an entertaining, retro superhero heavily inspired by Western comic icons like Superman, complete with a cape and dynamic action sequences. The story follows "Mighty Man" (萬能俠) as he uses pocket explosives and death-ray guns to battle giant, tentacled alien jellyfish monsters in space.
As a unique hallmark of Hong Kong comics from this period, the back section includes beautifully illustrated classic educational short stories about the Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars (二十四孝).
