Vintage Malay Heirloom Dresser

A rare Malay heirloom dresser that has remained within the family for nearly a century, passed down through generations since my grandparents’ youth. It showcases original carved wood craftsmanship and still retains its original mirror and fittings.

Despite its age, the dresser remains sturdy and structurally sound. With proper restoration, it holds considerable value for collectors, antique enthusiasts, and those who appreciate traditional Malay furniture.

Similar styles of dressers can be found in traditional Malay heritage displays, reflecting the furniture associated with aristocratic Malay households and the Bendahara era. The Bendahara was a high-ranking official during the Malay Sultanate, highlighting the cultural significance of this type of furniture.

The interior still contains fragments of old Malay newspapers written in Jawi script, serving as a subtle testament to its age, authenticity, and rich history.

The upper right shelf section was damaged during transportation from my grandparents’ house to my home.
