The Strollers were a pioneering Malaysian pop band formed in Kuala Lumpur in 1965, known for their English-language psychedelic rock and pop. The original lineup included Michael Magness (vocals, organ), Nand Kumar (vocals, congas), Billy Chang (bass), Hassan Idris (guitar), and Ramli Yaakob (drums). They became the first Malaysian band signed to an international label, CBS Records, and released numerous hits between 1969 and 1973, including "Do What You Gotta Do," "Midday Sun," and "Silly Joke." Their 1973 album Waiting Is... is regarded as a psychedelic pop classic. In 2023, surviving members reunited for a special performance, and their legacy is celebrated in the book The Strollers: Malaysian Pop Legends.
