The Hongwu Tongbao is a historical Chinese cash coin cast by the Hongwu Emperor (Zhu Yuanzhang), founder of the Ming Dynasty. Minted between 1368 and 1393, it was the first coin to bear a reigning Ming Emperor's era title and was heavily used to stabilize the early dynastic economy.
