This is the HPI Racing 1/8 WR8 3.0 2001 WRC Subaru Impreza 4WD Nitro RTR Rally Car w/ 2.4GHz Radio [#160211]. We're delighted to announce the return of the ever popular WR8 family, in the form of the classic 2001 WRC Subaru Impreza, piloted to win the Driver's Championship 20 years ago in 2001! Any rally fan will will recognise the illustrious blue and yellow livery as one of the most recognisable in the sport, and what better way to herald the return of HPI's fan favourite rally platform than with a classic Subaru Impreza!
Underneath the officially licensed and famous replica Impreza body, the WR8 3.0 chassis is based on the HPI Bullet RC monster truck. This means it's massively tough and can take a real beating on- or off-road! The WR8 3.0 is powered by an easy-to-use and powerful Nitro Star G3.0 HO engine with all-aluminium construction and 32,000 max RPM, delivering power through the same tough bevel gear differentials and fully ball bearing-supported 4WD shaft drivetrain of the Bullet monster truck. With authentic rally suspension geometry, oil-filled dampers and extra-thick sway bars you'll have fabulous control on dirt or tarmac! Top it off with high-spec, soft compound tires and authentic rally wheels and you've got an instant head-turner in your hands!
The HPI Racing WR8 3.0 is crammed with features that enhance its durability anywhere you want to take it, including a high ground clearance, skidplate, foam front bumper, optimized rally-style suspension geometry, shock debris guards, mud deflectors on the chassis and much more. It's the ideal machine to race your friends on RC Rally-style courses and multi-surface tracks, or anywhere you like! Like all HPI Racing RTR (Ready-To-Run) cars, the WR8 3.0 is completely pre-built: all you have to do is add transmitter and receiver batteries, nitro fuel and you're ready to start running in the engine!
The HPI WR8 3.0 is super-easy to drive and get familiar with – first it is essential to follow the engine running in procedure in the manual. Once this process is complete, the fun begins! To drive the car, simply pick up the controller with your left hand, put your left index finger into the trigger area, and then put your right hand on the steering wheel – it’s as natural as driving a real car! Turn the wheel to go left and right, and gently pull on the trigger with your left index finger to go forwards. To stop the car, gently push away from you with your left index finger to brake the car from insane top speeds to a gentle stop. It takes seconds to get used to this easy operation, and in no time at all you’ll be ripping off jaw-dropping moves, just like the Subaru Rally Team!
For the ultimate in replica looks and fantastic performance, every HPI WR8 3.0 2001 WRC Subaru Impreza is fitted with race-spec, authentic bronze rally wheels. The wheels really help the car stand out as a scale replica, and for extreme performance, the wheels are wrapped with soft compound HPI tires molded in real rubber. The grippy rubber and aggressive pattern help the car stick to asphalt or tarmac for real rallying action giving you plenty of grip even on dusty paved surfaces! Thick main suspension arms are mated to durable uprights fitted with a pair of rubber-sealed ball bearings for performance that matches the legendary Subaru Rally Team!
All this function is nothing if you can’t customize the car to your liking. Although we’ve set the car to be just about perfect right out of the box, you can easily adjust loads of settings, exactly like a real racing car! Ride height, shock angle and more are simple to adjust if you want to dive under the hood – HPI make it easy to be your own race car mechanic AND driver! Whether you want to drive like a pro, or be your own chief mechanic: it’s easy to do both with the HPI WR8 3.0!
The Nitro Star G3.0 H.O. engine is a super-powerful upgraded engine based on the already strong G3.0 used in the HPI Bullet 3.0 trucks. The engine is fitted with a steel flywheel for smooth idling and a racing-style 2-shoe clutch for excellent acceleration and throttle response. If you want instant wheelspin, you've got it! The power from the G3.0 H.O. engine is unbelievable, and with up to 32,000RPM you'll get screamingly fast speeds at the pull of a trigger! A 2-stage air filter protects the carburetor opening from dirt and dust, and the tall forged aluminium heat sink head allows the engine to keep its cool. An all-aluminium exhaust system unlocks the horsepower from the engine and throws out a real trail of engine exhaust at top speed!
For some time now, fans of the WR8 have been demanding that it be brought back once again so that they can enjoy the unique on-road / off-road rampage this platform delivers. Based on the chassis of the HPI Bullet Monster Truck, there really is no better rally vehicle on the RC market.
