Role Overview
The Artwork Closer is responsible for preparing, checking, and finalizing customer artwork to ensure it is print-ready and meets production standards. This role bridges the gap between design, sales, and production, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality before printing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Artwork Preparation & Finalization
Adjust and finalize customer artwork according to print specifications (size, bleed, margins, color mode).
Ensure all files are correctly formatted for production (CMYK, spot colors, resolution, fonts outlined).
Impose files for printing (booklets, vouchers, name cards, etc.).
2. Technical Prepress Checks
Perform thorough preflight checks to identify errors (missing fonts, low resolution, incorrect color settings).
Ensure correct pagination, alignment, and finishing requirements (folding, binding, die-cut).
Verify special print requirements (spot UV, emboss, hot stamping).
3. File Management & Workflow
Organize and manage artwork files systematically.
Ensure correct version control before releasing to production.
Prepare files according to machine requirements (offset, digital, large format).
4. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with sales/design team to clarify artwork issues or missing details.
Advise on print feasibility and recommend improvements when needed.
Communicate clearly with production team to avoid errors or delays.
5. Quality Control
Ensure zero-error output before printing.
Minimize reprints and wastage by catching issues early.
Maintain consistency with company quality standards.
