Synopsis:
The Amazing Spider-Man #700 (Skyline Cover) marks the dramatic conclusion to “Dying Wish,” the final story in the long-running series before it relaunches as The Superior Spider-Man. In this issue, Doctor Octopus, dying and frail, has successfully swapped bodies with Peter Parker, leaving Peter trapped in Otto Octavius’s failing body. As Peter desperately fights to reverse the swap and reclaim his life, Otto, now in Spider-Man’s body, experiences Peter’s memories, his sense of responsibility, and the pain of his losses. Their final battle unfolds atop the city, where Peter makes one last, heroic effort to stop Octavius but ultimately dies in the body of Doctor Octopus. Overwhelmed by Peter’s memories and sacrifice, Otto vows to honor him, promising to be a “Superior Spider-Man.” The issue closes the curtain on over 50 years of The Amazing Spider-Man, redefining the character’s legacy with a mix of tragedy, respect, and transformation as the mantle of Spider-Man passes—at least temporarily—to one of his greatest foes.
