Mercury Rising is a fast-paced 1998 American action thriller film directed by Harold Becker. The story follows renegade FBI agent Art Jeffries (Bruce Willis), who finds himself protecting Simon Lynch (Miko Hughes), a nine-year-old autistic boy. Simon accidentally cracks an "unbreakable" multi-billion dollar government encryption code named "MERCURY" simply by solving a puzzle magazine game. When a ruthless NSA program chief (Alec Baldwin) marks the boy as a national security threat and orders him eliminated, Jeffries must go rogue, evading deadly assassins to keep the child safe and bring the corrupt operatives to justice.
