Set in the 15th century during the height of the Malacca Sultanate, Puteri Gunung Ledang tells the tragic tale of a forbidden love that transcends duty and kingdoms. Hang Tuah, the legendary Admiral and loyal servant to Sultan Mahmud Shah, falls deeply in love with the mystical Princess of Mount Ledang (Gusta Putri). However, their romance is thwarted when the Sultan, mourning his late wife, sets his sights on the Princess for himself. Caught between his unwavering loyalty to the throne and his devotion to the woman he loves, Hang Tuah is tasked with delivering the Sultan's marriage proposal. To discourage the Sultan without a direct refusal, the Princess sets seven nearly impossible conditions including a bridge of gold from Malacca to the mountain and a bowl of the Crown Prince's blood. The story is a sweeping epic of sacrifice, the weight of "daulat" (sovereignty), and a love so powerful it chose exile over compromise.
