An early 1900's finely, delicately carved with host of details, a Chinese sage table lamp stand.
Background
A family heirloom - passed from my grandmother (who got it when she became wife to my grandfather) and later, to my mom (who is 97yo this year). It was used by as a table lamp right through all along.
NOTE and check out the many fine details...
1. The facial features if the sage (symbolising wisdom, longevity)
2. The flow of his robes, shoes, sash around his waist.
3. The sage's long staff (whose end actually becomes the point where we can affix the bulb socket/lampshade). Note too the old water bottle hanging from the top of the staff.
4. Then we have the crane below - which also symbolises wisdom and longevity - looking up to the sage.
5. The sage is seen holding an open scroll - indicating that he is in the act of teaching, of instructing ie of imparting of wisdom.
This table lamp stand statuette, despite being 100+ yo is in excellent condition as can be seen.
